“People need to feel safe before they can even begin to heal." - Bessel van der Kolk
Our Approach
At the Trauma-Informed Care Institute™, we take a whole-person, practitioner-rooted approach to trauma-informed education. Focusing on education that blends clinical science with compassionate, real-world application.
Our framework is grounded in the latest neuroscience, informed by health psychology, and guided by the core principles of trauma-informed care: safety, trust, collaboration, choice, empowerment, and cultural humility.
But what sets us apart is how we teach:
-
We make complex trauma science clear, usable, and scope-appropriate for coaches, providers, and holistic practitioners.
-
We emphasize integration over information focusing on embodied understanding, not memorized definitions.
-
We provide self-reflection tools and real-life case examples that help you recognize trauma responses in both your clients and yourself.
-
We prioritize ethical care, boundaries, and sustainability so you can support others without burning out or overstepping.
This isn’t a one-size-fits-all checklist. It’s a way of seeing, serving, and showing up with deeper awareness, greater regulation, and lasting impact.
Our goal is simple: to help you become a practitioner who doesn’t just know what trauma-informed care is but lives it in every interaction.
“Trauma is not what happens to you, but what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you.”— Gabor Maté

Trauma-Informed Parenting
Let's face it....we are human beings raising tiny humans. We are not perfect, so why do we expect perfection from ourselves when dealing with children? Easy, because it matters so much! Having children is like having our heart walk around outside my body and we want the world to be kind to it. But, then we yell, get frustrated, react, get overwhelmed, and then live with mom guilt (or dad guilt). But, what if I told you....it's not your fault. It's your nervous system's way of protecting you and these patterns were created in your childhood. These reactions, frustrations, and lapses of patience are from your own trauma. The GREAT news is that it no longer has to be that way. In this life changing course you will learn how to identify and regulate your own trauma triggers so that you can meet your children where they are and help co-regulate them. Are you ready to become a trauma-informed parent?
